| Boat diving Hawaii Oahu Island offshore Waikiki Depth:100 feet |
Our first dive is the Famous YO257 Shipwreck, Also called the Caroline
Wreck. It is located offshore of Diamond Head. It was sunk over 12 years
ago, by Atlantis Submarine Company as an artificial reef. The Caroline
is a 165ft Navy Yard Oilier that is now sitting on the bottom of the ocean
in120 feet. The Caroline is the island's best ship wreck dive. The average
visibility is about 80ft.You will be guided by our friendly staff that
are all PADI dive instructors. At this site there are a lot of different
types of Hawaiian reef fishes that you'll only see in Hawaii. The abundance
of them grows in numbers as we feed these fishes daily. The Caroline is also
the home of some green sea turtles. You can see them sleeping in the wheel
house or in the ships rooms. These turtles here are very friendly. They
will just sit still and let you watch them. Once in a while you can even
see Manta Rays that extend about 15ft in length gliding past the ship.
There are a lot of moray eels that also live in the Caroline. Some of which
are very large in size. These eels are not aggressive, so they are very
interesting to watch. You can also see large angler fishes that walk on
the ship with their cute little feet. If you feel comfortable enough, your instructor
will take you in the rooms of the ship. In these rooms are many types of
different organisms that grow wild. This dive plan is set for 20 minutes
of bottom time at 90ft.The boat ride is approximately 20 minutes to this
dive point. The temperature ranges for 70-75f. (21\24C.).The visibility
averages about 80ft |
